Bob Dylan was born Robert Zimmerman in 1941 and grew up in Hibbing, Minnesota. He began performing under the name Bob Dylan around 1960, and in 1961 moved to New York City. His early music featured acoustic guitar and consisted of folk, protest, and personal songs.
