After his 1966 motorcycle crash, Bob Dylan stopped performing regularly and began releasing relaxed country-influenced music. Though I disagree, Blood on the Tracks (1975) is generally considered Dylan’s creative high point post-Blonde on Blonde (1966) and pre-Time out of Mind (1997). The songs on Blood on the Tracks are about Dylan’s first marriage to Sara Lownds, about whom “Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands” was written. Their marriage was in turmoil by 1975 and ended in divorce in 1977.
